I've been poking around trying to get Wolf 3D running, and after decompressing/decrypting the game code I discovered that it uses the same copy protection code as Cycloids/Raw Power/FRED/etc. So fairly soon I should have it fully working on modern machines, all without the cost of sending a tenner to Uffenkamp Computer Systems (Who probably don't exist any more) |

You do realise Eddie Edwards released the source for Wolf 3D, don't you? |

I don't know now... probably the web page doesn't exist any more. I may still have on a zip disc somewhere. |

Yay!
However, web.arhive.org only archive web pages not downloads
Anyway, I've almost got it working now. Just need to hard code the disc key, and then identify the decryption code and either decrypt & disable or make it StrongARM friendly. |

Of course, this verison would probably be working by now if the archive I used to bring it to uni wasn't corrupt |

Whew, think it's fixed. Luckily it only looks like an ASWAP file i'd been poking round with got corrupted, so the game should work |

Are you working from the source or the binary now? |

Ooo, BASIC source!
I'm not sure whether that's a good thing or a bad thing
If I can find the is-a-disc-inserted function then I should be able to get the binary version working... |

Yup, which is quite nice
I've now managed to get past the prompt to make you insert disc one and onto the main menu, but .... attempting to start/load a game will crash the computer |

L@@K!
Looks like he's the right guy, judging by the GBA hacking and this wiki. Anyone wanna drop him a line and see if he'll let us distribute the Wolf source? |
