New Psion coverage in Computer Shopper magazine

Posted by Alasdair Bailey on 12:50, 31/8/2000 | , ,

Computer Shopper magazine is continuing its support of minority platforms with the launch of two pages of monthly coverage of all things EPOC related.

Since the days of Acorn's PocketBook and PocketBook II, the Psion and RISC OS markets have been fairly close both in terms of connectivity software and their user base. With plans to put RISC OS on a netBook, it looks like they could become even closer in the future.

Unregistered user Yes - it's a good column and a nice move. Shopper also does a regular Linux page - but in the month they start the EPOC page, the Acorn one has disappeared! Hope this is temporary - if Jim Nagel reads iconbar perhaps he could shed light?

Unregistered user IIRC he posted to csaa to say that he was on holiday and Computer Shopper had forgotten to print a note to explain.

Unregistered user It's about time EPOC got proper recognition in CS. There must be hundreds of times more users of EPOC in the UK than RISC OS!

Unregistered user Yes, great to see EPOC pages in Computer Shopper. It's sad that the PeeCee establishment have become much more luke warm to Psion's handhelds now that Palm and PocketPC generate more advertising bucks. It's also sad that since Symbian, Psion's role as a palmtop maker is playing second fiddle.
