Second Graphics Card on the Horizon

Posted by Alasdair Bailey on 23:37, 14/6/2000 | , , , , ,

Microdigital, makers of the Mico desktop computer have announced plans to develop a new graphics accelerator board specifically for their range of desktop machines.

The card, which will work exclusively with 'MicoBus' equipped machines will take display handling duties away from the main processor, freeing up time for other tasks. According to Microdigital, when the ARM7500FE-based Mico is fitted with the card, almost StrongARM RiscPC-like performance is obtained (independant benchmarks have yet to be performed).

More details on this project and MicroDigital's portable plans are expected soon. In the meantime, look down the page to see our coverage of ViewFinder, the display enhancer card using the standard Acorn Podule Bus.
