Three new games for RISC OS (Updated)

Posted by John Hoare on 15:25, 25/3/2003 | ,

screengrab of JMBMANAuthor of the recently released Shemozzle, Neil White aka nex has released three new games for RISC OS:

JMBMAN: A Pacman clone, written in 9 hours.
Squerd: A puzzle game. Your aim is to remove the board.
TANX: A great concept. In Neil's own words: "You are a tank in an arcade game that has become self-aware. Forced to turn on your comrades you must try and escape to a better world where green tanx in arcade games run free, live long and prosper." A demo version only, at the moment.

All games apart from TANX should run on RISC OS 3.5 - 5, and although a StrongARM or better is recommended, it is not needed. (TANX only runs on a StrongARM RPC, due to the sound module used not being 32-bit - a new, IYONIX-compatible version should be avaliable eventually). As a certain Owen Griffin says, hopefully Neil's efforts prove that it is possible to write simple, fun, RISC OS games by yourself, and will hopefully act as the impetus for some others out there...

Update: Neil has announced a small update to JMBMAN. A few minor bugs have been removed, the ghost AI has been improved, and the text is no longer flickery. Hooray!
