NetSurf requires Iconv 0.11 or later.

This can be downloaded from http://www.netsurf-browser.org/iconv/

Why, thank you very much for that helpful pointer. I'll just type that URL into NetSurf and... oh.

Really, you've got to laugh, haven't you?

Well you seem to have another browser don't you?

Unless you've typed that reply in via some 1337 use of telnet and the knowledge of HTTP?

It's not, strictly speaking, a tautology.

NetSurf is shipped* with the resources it needs in the supplied !Boot and !System directories. The ReadMe file details how to install NetSurf.

* Unless you got hold of it via some unofficial channel? I believe there were problems with the version Virtual Acorn shipped at one point.

This wasn't a first-time install, it was an upgrade over an ancient version on a secondary computer which had been copied over from the (working) application already installed on another one. I'd forgotten Iconv had changed in the meantime, and by that point I'd already switched off the other computer.

Fortunately, I found a solution in the end - go to the waste basket and run the old, outdated, inferior version of NetSurf merely to satisfy the whims of the new one.

So what you're saying is "I didn't follow the instructions and then it didn't work?"
