Does anyone know what's happening with Paul Vigay's website (http://www.vigay.com/index.html) and all the software he developed? Is anyone going to take it over?

It would be a terrible shame for all that RISC OS passion to vanish when the domain expires, and we (the RO community) should do something to stop that happening in honour of Paul. Perhaps I'm way behind the times and it's already taken care of?

I would be happy to take on some of his software projects. But I couldn't manage all of them. Nor could I keep up his vast and varied website!

Any thoughts?

What, not even the whacky conspiracy theory pages about Princess Diana's murder (why should anyone care), the 11/9 conspiracy (ditto) and the occurences of crop circles (admittedly, I'm slightly curious)? laugh

As I understand it, the software has been handed on to someone to look after and keep available. The site/domain itself is also being looked after.

I don't think it was ever said who was looking after them, but I seem to recall reading that they were.

You guys didn't search very hard, did you? In an older post with an identical subject, Rob Kendrick stated that:

I believe that Paul's sites are now being hosted by the ISP he started, which has continued in a friend's hands.
Sheesh, please do try to put in at least the tiniest modicum of effort before forcing us to do the same things over and over again. Took me like ten seconds to find it by typing "vigay.com" into the search box. That's what it's there for.

Well, a "search box", you say? Never heard of such a thing...

Really sorry for wasting your time. Although, I would still like to know *who* is looking after the site and software therein. Jason, care to find that out in less than 10 seconds, using one of these "search boxes" you speak of? tongue

Actually a number of people hereabouts already know, but hasn't been publicly said who, so I wouldn't put the name - even though I could tell you if I wanted, it's not my place to do so. If you really need to find out, I suggest you contact the ISP who is hosting the site and ask them directly, and if they choose to tell you, that's their business.

Back on this issue, you might be interested to know that Andrew Conroy has now been publicly announced as the person who is taking over Paul's software. Let's see how it goes in the future; apparently he's going to open-source it all.

That's why it's now being hosted in Area 52 by the US Military, they took a distinct interest in the site since Mr Vigay started posting his theories :)

Thanks for bringing this to my attention, Jason. Would be great if all that software becomes open-source.
