Are you saying it's bullshit? "SoC" is such a vague and varied term, "first SoC" doesn't make much sense. In short, you're talking about system-on-a-chip but you haven't actually yet defined system.
EDIT: syntax error, mismatched quotes. For once I'm not editing to get rid of a fucking , , or . Thank goodness for small blessings.

Do you consider the definition of "application processor" to be fuzzy?
If not, then an SoC is a class of microcontroller that uses an application processor, and sufficiently advanced peripherals.
Alternately, a microcontroller is a class of SoC that is usually considered distinct, and is differentiated by having a processor that is less powerful than an application processor, and having integrated RAM? |

OK, here's a quote from the Inquirer:
"We didn't know it was a first, and the world didn't know it was a first. It was a long way before anyone was talking about systems-on-a-chip," said Wilson. Are you saying it's bullshit? It could be included in the Wikipedia article as a claimed first (perhaps after being discussed on the talk page). I'm saying it depends where you place the posts. "SoC" is such a vague and varied term, "first SoC" doesn't make much sense.
Do microcontrollers count? (They're whole systems, after all.) Does the RAM need to be included? Any ROM/Flash? Does it have to have video? (And thus excluding half of Marvell's SoCs that are so popular in NASes). Etc. I'm with rjek on this. Intel MCS chips are way earlier than ARM ones, they're practically the precursor to all the PIC, Atmel & ARM SoCs afaik, hell Acorn used the 8051 as a keyboard controller in the Archimedes. |

Just to let you know that we should be getting some pre-RiscPC stuff coming in next week - following the feedback on here. BBC/A3000/5000 type stuff I think, and some old Acorn monitors. |
