In a recent thread, concern was expressed about the potential loss of RISC OS related material due to various factors.
Therefore I am making an open request.
If people here have RISC OS/Acorn related items, websites or archives of material, I'd very strongly suggest donating appropriate archives, mirrors and snapshots to preservation efforts such as archive.org or JASPP
It would be useful to note (in response to this thread) which active developers are happy for their work to be preserved.

Alex should probably point out he's not affiliated with either project and that preservation project charities do exist, such as The Centre for Computing History and The National Museum of Computing. |

Not to mention the efforts being put in by The Internet Archive(Archive.org).
Currently the curator of the Internet Archive's software and computer related ephemera collections is Jason Scott. He's a well known and HIGHLY respected archivist (with balls) for digital content. He is also from reading some essays he wrote someone with the a unique viewpoint on archival issues.
If you've got ancient computer software related items (software, manuals, media, etc.), he's certainly someone to be contacted.
His official contact e-mail is linked from the IA page at - https://archive.org/details/software)
He's also the figurehead for Archive Team, a separate volunteer archival effort (archiveteam.org) and is thus also the person to contact if you want to "donate" snapshots of FTP mirrors or complete websites, it seems.
I'd strongly urge people to 'donate' to multiple archives though. |

http://iconbar.com/forums/viewthread.php?threadid=12132&page=1#122947 Wow, so many edits, withdrawls and retractions. It's kinda hard to follow exactly what the discussion there is all about. It's a shame I missed that one at the time. |

[Edited by tokyoracer at 15:25, 4/2/2014] Have a word with Jon Abbot (JASPP) or Jason Scott (at Archive.org) |
