Hi,
I'm in the market for a new video editing machine but before I decide what to do I am wondering if RISC OS has a new video editor that can import/export HD or 4K content.
Thanks in advance!

Can't decide if troll or not.

On the off-chance you're not, even if there was, I wouldn't. RISC OS does not have the memory or IO functionality to make dealing with such large quantities of data at all comfortable, and is only able to run on puny CPUs.

My first video editing system was a RiscPC with optima! It has been in service for a long time and now it's time to replace it. If RISC OS can't support HD than I must consider switching to linux then. =(

Optima was in the days of SD and where RISC OS equipment was closer to the power of PCs and Macs.

These days, RISC OS only runs on CPUs that were used in mobile phones a few years ago.

I am aware that optima only supports SD. And it was fine for what I needed at the time. Now I need to get with the times and upgrade to HD
Hence asking if RISC OS works with HD footage.

As well as what Rob says - that the CPUs on which RISC OS runs just don't have the grunt for that sort of thing - another issue you'd encounter is file sizes. IIRC, RISC OS files are limited to 2GB in size - when dealing with HD video, you'll be dealing with files much bigger, unless, unless they are very short videos.

While the following are unlikely to be of any practical benefit in answering your question, you may find them of (historical) interest (if not already spotted):

Optima gave broadcast quality output because only a low resolution preview was done on the RiscPC. Once editing was complete, an EDL (Edit Decision List) was then fed to Three or more professional UMAX? video recorders.
I was told though that on more than one occasion the BBC broadcast a VHS draft output from a RiscPC.
