I think you missed a </a> off :)
I don't think I did - the validator would have caught it :o

However, I think it might have been XHTML closing tags confusing Oregano (you have to use <a name="blah" /> instead of <a name="blah"> because you have to have closing tags for each element.) I changed it to <a name="blah"></a> - it should work...

Hmmm - looking at the Asylum graphical block listing, I don't recognise the Ego Windmill shooters at all :| Were they actually used in the game?

Yes, they've been used. I know where you can find some, but can't think of how to describe getting there :P

If you can find that area with the stairway made from the wheels, then they should be somewhere down and on the left of there - you should find some wide pillars, and if you fall down between them and wander round a bit you should see some windmills drop down from somewhere.

Really someone ought to add the windmill blades and the ammo balls on the ends, that way they'll look more like they do in game....

Ah, I think that's what's confusing me :P

I'll get the block listing up today, but I'll try to add the blades and ammo balls on tonight :)

I was thinking of adding width and height values to the <img> tags, but I can't face it :P

Well most of them are the same size, so all you need to do is make a note of the different ones, search and replace all the image tags to include the normal size, then hand modify the other ones. Simple :P

Ah, yes; I thought of that, but, erm, dismissed it. For no reason.

Incidentally, tomorrow I hope to put online:

  • revised nobrainer page, with examples of output
  • gif version of the asylum block listing
  • cheats page
  • GameSuite manual - for no useful reason other than I want to :P

Be warned - sparkplug is not fond of zip files with 550 items in a directory! Or at least not for me :|

Oh, I'm leaving the GIFs safely on the server ;) I'll do everything apart from the sizes, and then sort them out at uni tomorrow morning.

Well, I won't, but there's a reason. It really needs to be done at home, using Zap rather than Notepad... but due to the uni's network being shit, it never managed to transfer the GIFs (which I need to do the size stuff...)

BUT, it's just let me done it :) So I'll upload it tomorrow. However, I shall do a couple of minor updates to the site now.

    Title: Asylum
Fun platformer with some massive explosions and a huge variety of power-ups. Crashes on high score table on Risc PC occasionally.

So it *isn't* a recent problem. I never had any trouble a few years ago though :P

I have a few updates that I'll upload later today :)

Including :flamethrower:'s graphical block listing. It has alt text, but no width/height stuff yet, or altered graphics to make the shooter things complete. In other words, the two things I'd do :| But after all the alt stuff, I just couldn't face any more for now...

    See the updates page :)

I ended up adding all the height and width information now, so it's just the revised graphics for the shooters that needs doing.

I'm OK with joining ROBN :)

I've returned from the (extended) weekend with some Asylum goodies :) (Uploaded to /files as usual, :moss:)

First off, Asylum 2.02. Exactly the same as 2.01, but it no longer crashes on the high score table! :E

Strangely enough all it needed was a recompilation of FastSpr from the GameSuite sources (Which, incidentally, had some syntax errors in them so definitely weren't the same sources used to build the Asylum version). As far as I could tell the problem was due to it trying to draw from a nonexistent sprite pool, which the recompiled version will fix. Since the copies of FastSpr in Asylum 1 and 2 are the same, it must have been a bug introduced in Asylum itself rather than FastSpr.

Also there's an updated misc.zip, to include the new FastSpr module for those wanting to use it with an older copy of asylum, and an updated nobrainer.zip to fix a mistake in the readme file, as well as say that a nice HTML block listing is on asylum.aa.com ;) The HTML readme file was fixed by me a few days ago, so doesn't need updating.

    [edit]

The only updates worth mentioning in the site are asylum 2.02 and updated misc/zip - you can mention the corrected nobrainer, but no version numbers or anything have changed.

I'll add it later this afternoon/first thing tomorrow :E

You realise you've fixed a bug that's plagued Asylum-owners ever since it was released? :o
