riscos.info - C for the masses

Posted by Richard Goodwin on 11:33, 28/3/2002 | , ,

Peter Naulls, he of the Unix porting and other initiatives, has launched his new riscos.info site.

The aim is to provide a comprehensive guide to C programming under RISC OS, with copious personal experience and discussions thrown in.

But that's not all - Peter's also taken over maintenence of lcc for RISC OS, a small, fast ANSI C compiler. This should give novices especially access to an easier to use free compiler that will work on almost any RISC OS machine.

Unregistered user Well done Peter

I have a few notes I knocked together for myself regarding the use of GCC. I'd pass a copy on but you have everything I have and more!! This will be extremely helpful to me and many other people.

I have spent hours hunting around trying to find this sort of info and now it is all in one spot :-)

Cheers
Steve Knutson

Unregistered user It is a damned fine site. Current development state of EasyC++ is that I've spent a good while playing with it, fixing library bugs, giving it a makeover and stuff like that. Okay, the C++ compiler bit is now ancient, but it's okay for beginners.

Odd that there are no links the the C the WIMP series (which supports GCC and Norcroft) - I'd have thought that to be perfect fodder for the site.

I would have also considered not only a link to the c.l.c. FAQ but to point people over to the alt.comp.lang.learn.c-c++ usenet group which is the perfect playground for all those learning (and also to c.l.c++)
