Hi, Attached is version 1.20 of CocoGnut. This is a full release and does not require a previous version of CocoGnut to copy over. There are many improvements in this release and it brings CocoGnut up to date with many Gnutella servents on other Operating Systems. You should especially find connecting to the Gnutella network a lot quicker. This version's new features include: Ultrapeer support ----------------- This is a totally new way of connecting to the Gnutella network and is the method used by modern clients. It results in vastly decreased bandwidth usage, vastly improved search results and less time wasted dealing with inapplicable queries. Will attempt to connect to many Ultrapeers simultaneously and automatically. Firewall detection ------------------ CocoGnut will automatically detect whether it can accept incoming connections and will cleverly determine its IP address as seen from the Internet. Hashing ------- All shared files are now hashed and their hash value is sent with any query results. At present, this just benefits others who are uploading from you, but it opens up the way for vastly improved download methods. Many bugfixes ------------- Many bugfixes in all areas: Gnutella connections, downloading, uploading, hostcaches and GUI. Generally, there is safer code within CocoGnut do it should crash less often. I would even go as far as saying that this is the most stable version of CocoGnut yet! Infrastructure -------------- Compiled using an updated version of GCC, DeskLib and now zlib and SQLite. Maximum number of simultaneous searches and download have doubled. Splash screen. Pretty icons in the main window (a lot more user-friendly). Supports the Iyonix Help system. Improved interactive help. Improved debugging. News ---- It is likely that sometime this week, CocoGnut will be made freely available to all, with technical support and good karma provided to those who decide to donate money. I am extremely thankful to all who have already bought and supported CocoGnut as its development would probably not have possible without your support. Those who have already paid will naturally continue to have free technical support. An announcement will be made shortly but discussions are welcomed on the CocoGnut mailing list. If you have not already subscribed to the CocoGnut mailing list, I strongly advise you do, for support and general information. To do this, please send an e-mail to and you will receive mailing list information. This is currently a low volume mailing list. Any problems, please don't hesitate to e-mail me. All the best, Marc Warne -- marc at indivisibilities dot com http://www.alpha-programming.co.uk/
