R-Comp Interactive announce RISCBook+ Special Edition, whilst stocks last

R-Comp Interactive is pleased to announce the availability of the
RISCBook+ Special Edition (SE) whilst stocks last!

The popularity of the R-Comp Interactive RISCube and RISCBook family
of computers has allowed us to arrange a very special promotion with
our suppliers, and the availability of the 15.4" Widescreen multimedia
RISCBook+ Special Edition, for the same price as the normal RISCBook+.

The RISCBook+ SE has a similar feature set to the RISCBook+ (powered
by Centrino architecture to give some of the fastest RISC OS performance
available, 512Mb RAM, 40Gb HardDrive etc.) but adds a 4-in-1 media
card reader (SmartMedia, MemoryStick, SecureDigital and MultiMedia Card),
enhanced surround sound audio (very impressive audio for a laptop system)
and, of course, the 15.4" high resolution widescreen display. The
screen is powered by an enhanced ATI Radeon 9000 graphics processor, for
excellent 2D and 3D/multimedia graphics.

All these extra facilities are fully accessible from RISC OS, of course!

The price is the same as a traditional RISCBook+ at 1350ukp inc VAT
and UK delivery. Performance remains as high as ever (see
http://www.rcomp.co.uk/ for how much faster the RISCBook+ is than
current ARM-based machines in various common tasks!).

This is a very special promotion (hence whilst stocks last) as this
laptop is listed at that sort of price (from most suppliers) WITHOUT
RISC OS, whereas obviously the RISCBook+ SE includes RISC OS 4,
and UniPrint VA.

The RISCBook+ SE machines are in-stock now.

Why Widescreen?

The Widescreen display on the RISCBook+ SE has a resolution of
1280x800, compared to 1024x768 on a normal RISCBook+. This means
more desktop space in both horizontal and vertical directions.
Even if you don't use the wide aspect, that's more document
visable on screen.

The wide aspect of the screen comes into its own under RISC OS,
where iconbar space is often at a premium. With disc/ram drives,
and applications software on the iconbar, it quickly becomes
full, so having the extra horizontal space is very welcome.

Additionally, you can have two A4 portrait pages side by side,
at aroundd 80-90% view, which is be very helpful in many cases.
Landscape A4 documents can ve viewed at 100% and still fit on the
screen. You can fit two web browser windows side by side, too!
CAD users will also benefit.

Applications that have toolbars at the side of the window, such
as Draw, Ovation Pro, Artworks etc. all benefit from additional
horizontal desktop space, as do any applications where you're
working on documents which are larger horizontally than vertically
(many photos etc).

Finally, if you're watching a DVD or other movie on the unit,
you'll love the widescreen aspect, and the high quality audio.

If you're still not sure about the widescreen aspect, the traditional
RISCBook+ is also available.
