Messenger Pro 3 upgrade scheme available now!

We are pleased to announce the first release of Messenger Pro 3
this weekend at the Birmingham Motorcycle-Museum show. This new
version of one of the platform's most highly respected email
applications represents a new era in its development, infused
with new programming talent to drive it forwards.

It is now nearly three years since Messenger Pro 2 was released,
and earlier this year the coding mantle passed over to a new
enthusiastic author (and active user!) - the results of which
are now available.

The Messenger Pro 3 upgrade is a little different to the way
things have been done in the past - rather than being one
"final" release, Messenger Pro 3 will be an ongoing upgrade
scheme/path, with enhancements and new features being added
along the way. Unlike other similar arrangements, you won't be
charged a subscription, just a one-off upgrade fee. Most
R-Comp software owners will be familiar with our regular
email updates to software, and MusicMan (released Jan 2004)
is a recent example of how this type of rolling development
works.

Of course, you'll be wondering what's new right now? Well,
the single biggest change is a move to a new multi-tasking
engine which makes the use of Messenger Pro 3 much smoother
and slicker. Where older versions might tie up your machine
deleting messages etc, Messenger Pro 3 will do this in the
background, leaving you free to continue working. Imagine
how the RISC OS filer works - copy, delete, move, format -
all in the background.

The way various group windows open is now far more intelligent,
with window sizes being dynamically adjusted to reduce the
time you waste resizing windows to "get a better view". The
software combines the ability to store window size/position
with this dynamic sizing to ensure that the software feels
natural - like all the best software features, it happens
so transparently that you will hardly notice it!

The software has received significant attention to its user
interface, bringing it inline with modern OS4/Adjust/OS5
feel, as well as adjusting many windows to make them
operate more sensibly, and naturally.

Features like word-wrapping, and message display have been
greatly enhanced, and a single keypress allows you to toggle
between proportionally and mono-spaced fonts, to enhance
readability, if you're using outline fonts. There are also
enhancements to distribution lists, handling multi-recipient
emails and many more.

Messenger Pro 3 is designed to work on both 26bit RiscPC
and similar machines, as well as 32bit Iyonix machines
in a "one-size-fits-all" manner, so upgrading to Mpro 3
ensures your product is compatible whatever RISC OS
path you choose in the future.

There have also been enhancements to the online IMAP
server, and the MPro server edition.

The Messenger Pro 3 upgrade scheme costs 19ukp, and is
available now. If you're coming to the Birmingham
show, you'll be able to exchange your old discs, but
most of the upgrades will be organised by email
(unless you have an objection), as we have found
this to be an effective way of getting the software
to you quickly and directly, (and avoids you having
to return your old discs!).

It can be ordered by phone (01925 755043), fax, email
or website. Please note that we shall be at the show
this weekend.

Best regards,
