The Icon Bar: News and features: Descent 1 & 2 32bit ready.

Descent 1 & 2 32bit ready.

Posted by The Doctor on 19:16, 11/9/2003 | ,

Apparently these were ready some time ago but somehow we missed it.
In addition to being 32bit ready these games also feature many visual enhancements as follows;-

  • Performance enhancements giving improved frame rate on all machines
  • Bi-linear filtering for smooth close-up textures in Descent 1 (This gives a typical 3D accelerated look to the games) (again, D2 already has this)
  • Transparency effects in Descent 1 (D2 already has them
  • Improved lighting to give more in-depth look and feel
  • High resolution images
  • Higher resolution gameplay in higher colour modes (8/16/32bpp)
  • New sound system with 16bit audio
  • High and Low res movies in Descent 2

An upgrade pack is available from R-Comp for 15 to cover both games.
