Hi All

does anyone know what the best setting for setting up a RiscPC up for networking it directly to my to my superhub to access the internet?

i have tried to set it up with what i know from setting up windosy 95 and 98 for accessing the net

i have both i-cubed 600 and 550 options available which ever is the best of the cards

thanks

Simon

Hello, my A3020(!!) is happily internetted through Virgin Media via a superhub.

I'd use a static IP address outside of the DHCP range set on the superhub, netmask should be 255.255.255.0, gateway 192.168.1.1 (assuming superhub is on its defaults), DNS you may as well use google:
8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

Cheers,
Daniel

Hi Daniel

can you give me an example of what you mean by setting the ip address outside of the DHCP range please

default gateway 192.168.0.1
DNS Address are 194.168.8.100, 194.168.4.100

also asks me to provide a name or address for the computer or where im connecting to

Thanks

Simon

So on my superhub I have it set to only provide DHCP addresses from 192.168.1.100 to 192.168.1.250. Anything outside that range I can use as a static address (eg between 192.168.1.2 and 192.168.1.99) safe in the knowledge that it won't accidentally get assigned to another machine.

Are you sure the gateway's 192.168.0.1? What's the address of your superhub? - if it is 0.1 then that's fine, all your addresses on your local network should be in the range 192.168.0.1-255 and pick static addresses accordingly.

Is that a name for your computer? You can call it whatever you like. Mine's a3020. I'm not aware of having to put in a name for where you're connecting to.

I should say that this is all on Riscos 3.11 - I'm not familiar with more recent versions. :-/

Cheers,
Daniel

What a pointless comment.
