Problem is trying to find someone to take on this task.
I notice it uses the SDL library :-/
The RISC OS port of SDL is not that hot apparently.

I had a quick look at JJFFE (as it is known) and there is a significant assembler file ffe.asm.

There are decompiled versions of some functions in the srctools folder, but it would need a load of work to get to run. Certainly not just a matter of hooking in gfx, sound & input routines or using SDL...

The main purpose of JJFFE (apart from a myriad of bugfixes) was to make it easier for people to play on Windows. I think Linux was a happy side-effect of that. Later on it added a few key features that were missing from the original.

It's very unlikely a completely assembler-free version will ever appear. Apparently some crucial bits of the code (landscape generation, graphics) are utterly impenetratable.
