MicroDigital Machines Down Under

Posted by Richard Goodwin on 13:17, 5/2/2001 | , , ,

According to MicroDigital's News Page they've just signed an agreement with Penguin Technologies in Oz to manufacture MD machines down under. Although the "Penguin" name sounds more Linux-based than RISC OS, they apparently have strong ties to RISC OS via a long-standing distribution agreement with a certain nut-logo'd ex computer company.

Interesting quote from Penguin MD Steve Percy:

This agreement represents a great opportunity the time is right for a new technology to replace the ageing PCs and the Microdigital range was a strong contender. Having seen the mistakes that were made by others in the past, I certainly do not intend to allow them to be repeated".

Apparently MicroDigital Australia, as the new company will be called, will be supported by a national dealer network and a television and press advertising campaign. Lucky .

Unregistered user Perhaps if this Aussie company do adveritie on tele like it says on the Micro Digial website then Risc Os may become better supported.

Unregistered user Did you read in the original MD press release that they had also planned the Omega for the Linux market?

Unregistered user Someone better tell them that the RS7500 doesn't have PCI slots and it won't take the StrongARM multiprocessor cards.
