Iyonix now supports USB2

Posted by Andrew Duffell on 16:21, 1/2/2005 | , , ,

IyonixA software upgrade by Castle now allows Iyonix PCs from Castle to support USB2. All new Iyonix will have USB2 as standard, but current owners will have to pat 29.95 for the upgrade.

USB2 offers an underlying bit transfer rate of 480 Megabits per second (USB1 runs at 1.2 or 12.0 Megabits per second). Overheads and other limits in the system (and in the attached USB peripheral) mean that the throughput achieved for a given USB device will not usually be as high as the full 480 Megabits per second specification. Typical improvements in speed for USB2 devices (memory devices, scanners etc) attached to an upgraded IYONIX pc will be variable depending on a number of factors.
